    Re: help with WampServer

do you have a firewall? did you download it as a package or as individual installs? can you give more details?
Don't get me wrong as I believe if and when I help someone I also help myself whereby whatever someone learns I also learn.

But I will also accept credits or reps if you really want to part with it.

    Re: help with WampServer

i do have a firewall, but a warning popped up when i first ran the program that asked if i wanted to allow the connection and said to allow it.

i downloaded a single install file that did everything.

the full name is WampServer Version 2.0

if you need more information, just ask.

    Re: help with WampServer

do you have the apache monitor on it should display as an icon at in your taskbar notification area. See if it is displaying a green 'play icon' (triangle) or a red 'stop icon' (square).

if the monitor is not running. go to
    apache bin folder
    e.g.
    "C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\bin"
    after that run apachemonitor.exe

it should display a list of services try to run it and if it gives you an error kindly post it here.

alternatively you may go to your apache log folder...
    e.g.
    C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache2.2\logs
    and
check out access.log it should give you an idea on what is wrong.

by the way what is your OS Version is it Windows Vista or older?
    Edit:
or click the wampserver icon at the task notification area. and click start all services.

    Re: help with WampServer

i started the appache monitor, it had the triangle icon.
there's no error, but it still doesn't work.
i went to the logs folder, but there isn't an access.log file.
    my OS is
    Code:
Microsoft Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
in case you need that much; anyway, its XP.
    Edit:
    i figured out the problem.

it was my firewall. i thought i had added an exception for the appache, but i only added it for php. when i went into the manual settings, i realized that appache was blocked.

    thank you for helping.
