Need to edit .htacces file for my wordpress blog

I need to make my wordpress blog permanent links site .
i fear that if i edited my .htacess file the posts that i made before changing to permanent links will show 301 error message so i need to edit .htacess file so that it safely redirects to my new static html page.
can any one explain me please??

You want to use the "permalinks" function in Wordpress, right ?

You don't have to worry about losing the "old" link to your Wordpress posts.

let's suppose you have a link like this for one post:
http://mysite.com/p=234
And then after enabling the permalinks, the "official" link now becomes:
http://mysite.com/my-incredible-post-about-stuff/

Then, the "old" link will still function (you should be automatically redirected to the "new" link, Wordpress will take care of that), and you won't lose any "references" from other websites.

If something goes wrong, you can disable permalinks in Wordpress from the control panel.
