I want to put MediaWiki in the root of my website (republicofkanto.exofire.net) in a folder named w. Should it be /public_html/w or /www/w? NB: The whole site will be a wiki.

If you want to put the script into the root of your website directory it can be in either one of those locations they both will show the script onto the web but you'll only be able to access the files in your ftp going to the respected folder where you put the script in.

"www/w" & "public_html/w" are exactly the same. One is just a link to the other.
Personally I always use "public_html", but it doesn't matter.
