Softaculous is a third party vendor that sells a packaged service. x10 can remove scripts from the list (resource hogs, against T.O.S., etc) , but cannot add scripts.

If you find a script you are interested in, you can go to the script's site and download it there, then upload to your account and follow their instructions to manually install it.
    Nothing is always absolutely so.

If you find any other open source software that suits your needs, they are very likely to ask you to upload it to your site. There are two ways you can do this:

    - After downloading a compressed file (.zip .tar.gz etc) from the software's website, login to your cPanel and enter the 'File Manager'. Select the upload button and browse to the compressed file that you downloaded onto your computer. When the upload has finished, go back to the file manager, click on it and click on the Extract button. Enter the location where you want your opensource software to be installed. It should be somewhere inside public_html, as all files inside there are visible to your visitors. Any files outside public_html are private.
    - After downloading a compressed file (.zip.tar.gz etc) from the software's website, extract it to somewhere on your computer. Then, using an FTP client such as FileZilla, upload the decompressed files somewhere inside public_html (where you want the software to be installed). The FTP Host is ftp.yourdomain.x10.mx (replacing yourdomain.x10.mx with your domain name) and the Port is 21. Your username and password are the same as your cPanel details.

When you've done, follow the installation instructions provided by the software.

Personally, I would recommend Elgg, but Softaculous offers that.
