    Post Make Firefox Faster

Here's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up:

1.Type about:config into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining
    network.http.proxy.pipelining
    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows:

    Set network.http.pipelining to true
    Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to true
Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. (Don't put higher than 30, coz some sites will think u r hammering and will ban u...)

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New Integer. Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Thanks, although I am on a DSL connection ( Download Speed: 1303 kbps (162.9 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 540 kbps (67.5 KB/sec transfer rate) ) ... and I haven't noticed much change ( if any ) in page loading.

FasterFox is stupid, it doesn't do anything to make sites loads faster, it just wastes b/w, by caching ALL links on the current page.

Some sites are blocking sites that use fasterfox because of this.
    Thanks,
    Brandon Long

fasterfox is a total crap -.- im doing manual editing using about:config. but beginners can download a software called FireTune (third party) that modifies the about:config of mozzie automatically

Please do not use these techniques, besides the nglayout.initialpaintdelay. These techniques cause additional load on the server, and makes the site slower if the server of that site is slow. Also, the additional strain on the server makes the site experience much less enjoyable for other people without that modification.

Most of the time, the server can take the extra load and as it won't take any more bandwidth in the end it's great. And for people with good connections, it just uses more of it, as it is rare that you use all the power of your internet connection.
