Setting up a VPS from Start to End

    Hey guys,

I Just got a VPS and I know they are for advanced users, but I was wanting to jump into the pool, rather then just dipping my feet in.

Does anyone know of a good source for a person starting up with there first VPS?

Also, what is the recommend OS for a LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) server?

    Any tips would be great.

    Thanks!

if you are new to linux, ubuntu is great as its package lists have 30,000+ packages. Other Distros often require you to compile less common libraries, which can get more involved.
For stability, CentOS is usually the better choice(my ubuntu vps hasn't had any downtime though, i would prefer centos on the hardware, not in a container/vps)

    http://www.linux-tutorial.info/toc
That looks like a good source of info, can't guarantee anything
    also this looks useful:

ubuntu also has great guides on installing stuff, like

I have CentOS installed with cPanel. How do I go about accessing that?

    Hello,

If you have cPanel installed, Apache, etc is already installed and can be configured via EasyApache in WHM.

Anything to do with web-server based things can't be done as listed above, as cPanel will compile and/or install the proper RPM's for you.
    Thanks,

Do you have a cPanel license? It costs an additional $8/month on most plans.

Alright, you can access WHM through http://yourip:2086.

At that prompt, enter your username and password, in this case, root and your root password.
    Thanks,
