Spam with X10?

I just moved my site and parked a domain here at X10 within the last 24 hours. Previous to today, I averaged maybe 1 spam a week for the last several months at least. Today, i`m already at 26 spams! Whats the deal? I cant think of anything else that would have changed besides moving to X10.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I have not seen an increase in the number of spam messages I get from before/after I joined x10.
It is also possible that someone found your email address and sold it to a marketing company.

Unbelieveable - I just logged in, wrote probably 200 words in reply with further thoughts and questions, clicked submit, and it said I wasn't logged in. (huh?) So after logging in the second time, I lost all my text - now I am bummed and don't even feel like writing all that again. So my first day experience with X10 is not going well ... frustration setting in, I had better sleep on it ...
Edit:
OK one part of my day is saved - almost forgot about the "back" button, luckily my original text was saved there even though I tried to submit it (and yes, I verified I was logged in the first time, dont know why it said I wasnt), I assumed wrongly the text area would have been cleared - so below is what I intended to post earlier.

>>>Right, I hate to judge too soon, but actually I changed over two sites today, one a personal family site and another I manage for a group, and it happened with both domains so isn't that strange? Could *that* be coincidence? The group website I had NEVER received a spam since the domain was created on Aug. 1st this year. Is there any way my address would be "leaked" to any public place at X10hosting?

Now, to be honest and fair, let me say this: I also had to change my DNS servers over at NetFirms from 000webhost to X10hosting. Could this have potentially had any effect? Certainly when I had the DNS pointing to 000webhost, spam was never a problem, so I doubt this change would matter.
The other thing is, even though I have used all 5 email accts on my personal domain, only one of those has been affected. If X10 was the cause, maybe they would *all* have spam?

So I`m really at a loss for answers and confused why this happened ...
I had been so happy with my inbox lately, ever since I left GoDaddy domain hosting a few months ago, about 30 spams a day stopped dead immediately. Now they are instantly back as fast as they stopped.

My account was created 2 years ago and I have never received spam to my email account. Not even once.

Before signing up with x10hosting, I made a new free email account for the sole purpose of using it with x10hosting, so only they have this email address and I have never ever got any junk mail.

I can’t tell you where you are getting the spam from, but I would look into those that where sending junk before... Usually a simple “unsubscribe me” is not enough.

Also I have a thought; is it possible your old host had a built in spam filter that it was using to filter out the spam you never even got a chance to see?

Far as I know x10 doesn't filter any of the email by default (it can, but you have to set it up I think). That would account for the sudden increase - it's not really an increase in spam, so much as an increase of spam not being blocked by a filter :)

Not 100% sure that's the cause but it's a thought.

New domains take 24-48 hours to be added to ASSP (The spam system we use). You can also adjust the settings of ASSP in your cPanel, there is an ASSP icon.

Thats seems to be a possibility, however on their CP the only thing I can find about a spam filter, Spam Assasin, is that I should upgrade to get it.

I`ll check out the ASSP that Corey mentioned.

Just for clarification, I do not mean to directly blame X10hosting, rather I`m just trying to figure out this strange occurance by getting others' experience.

It seems like my ASSP icon in the Lotus cPanel isn't there anymore?

I rarely have gotten spam in the past year I was hosted by x10.
Only spam I got was from angry trolls I banned on my forums, the rest was great useful e-mails. X10 is a great service, and I think perhaps a bot may have stumbled upon your e-mail and attacked it viciously ;)

Spam never really been a problem, use disposable email addreses with yahoo/ gmail etc or if you have a doamin like x10 creating them is a whole lot easier.

If you do have a public email address visible on your website do make sure that it is 'cloaked' so trawling harvester bots cannot read it.

Personally I like making spammers lives a misery and do keep the odd page or three with several thousand bogus email addys for the bots to feed on. Oh the joy of javascript!

FWIW, my ASSP icon seems to come and go. Had some problems a while back that would have been fixable had I had an ASSP icon, finally got it, fixed the problems, then along came more changes, and lo and behold, no more ASSP icon. ???
