New net rules set to make cookies crumble

How websites track visitors and tailor ads to their behaviour is about to undergo a big shake-up. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-12668552

From 25 May, European laws dictate that "explicit consent" must be gathered from web users who are being tracked via text files called "cookies".

Not sure how this is going to work in practice and niether are the folk writing the new regulations from the sound of it. But can be sure of one thing it's very likely to cause some minor chaos.

Yep, looking like chaos will be created with that. I'm all for privacy ect; but I think people should help protect themselves.

I use firefox with adblock, no script, better privacy and with ghostery thrown in, so I only allow what I want to allow...

Somehow I can't seem to care about cookies tracking me. I'm more concerned with random "do you want to allow x site to run y cookie" popping up to annoy me.
