Can I change my forum username or delete acct. & re-register?

Like the heading said, I'm not sure what happened with entering a username, but it was done by mistake and I haven't posted because I don't want to do so under something so arbitrary.

Can this whole community account be deleted so I can re-register with a name I like?

I've checked every setting and there's nothing on the user end that allows me to terminate the account myself, but I'm assuming the mods can do it for me.

The forum username is created automatically during sign up and is derived from the first 8 letters of the domain you enter when signing up (the cPanel username is the same as well).

The forum accounts are linked with the hosting account in such way that we can look up the details of your hosting account when you post in the forums for support.

This also means that there's no way to remove the community account that was automatically created without causing some issues with your account.

You can always create a new account on the forums, the account panel has the ability to let you change which forum account your hosting account is linked to. The process looks something like so:

1. Change the email address of your current forum account in the User CP to something else (you will need to confirm the new address, so a throwaway account from a service such as 10minutemail is best): https://x10hosting.com/community/account/contact-details
2. Log out of the forums and create new account on the forums at https://x10hosting.com/community/register/ -- if you did not follow step 1 you may need to choose a new email address you haven't used before
3. Log into your hosting account portal at https://x10hosting.com/sso/login
4. Click the "Open cPanel" button
5. In the top bar, click "Upgrades and Support"
6. In the "Free Web Hosting" section, click the "Visit Forums" button
7. This should pop up a light window with the text "Already have an account? Link your existing community forums account." on the bottom. Click that link.
8. Type in the username and password for your new forum account

Your current forum account will still exist, but you do not need to use it anymore. Your new account will be the one linked to your hosting account and therefore the one you should post support requests from.
