I recently began getting a http error uploading media in WordPress. I tried many remedies, including some listed in this forum from 2014 and 2016, along with installing the Force Regenerate Thumbnails plugin. Nothing has worked. I tried reverting back to an older PHP version (I had recently updated); didn't work.

I have 2 WPs sites in my free hosting account and both get the error. This seems to be a server-side issue, as one of my sites I don't make changes to any more and it uses very few plugins, and all different from the other site. For my larger site I have a development version installed locally on my computer and do not get the http error, even after performing updates.

Could the problem be related to 2 days ago when I attempted to perform an All-in-One WP Migration export and ran out of disk space to store the export file, and whether reaching the maximum allotment somehow affected the WP upload permissions? If this is the case, why would it affect both WP sites? I checked my WP uploads permissions in cPanel and all seem to be correct. It was after the attempted export that I discovered the http error when trying to upload media. Media uploads were working fine nine days prior (6/11/19). I'm currently using 428MB of the 512MB for free hosting and was able to do a migration export excluding media files.

I am able to upload via FTP, and using the Add From Server plugin worked, but not uploading in WP. Soon I will be moving my larger WP site to my client's host and hope this http error will not follow with the migration.

Thanks for any assistance.

The service is free and that’s all it’s worth ! It’s like the Marie Celeste on the support front ! I’ve given up hope after using x 10 for a lot of years ! If the company has no interest keeping the free servers running in a manner that provides a basic level of service then maybe they should concentrate on their paid services !

I do understand it's free service. But it's also a company image. If the free service has major problems (media content is essential to any website) than what can one expect from paid service? Core problems left unresolved for a month speak volumes about professionalism, work etiquette and commitment.

You are preaching to the converted my friend ! If you think this is bad you should have seen it a few years ago when they did the server migration ! You have been shown in the level of support you have received exactly how you are valued ! If they where that bothered they would have someone sorting issues and giving advice during the day ! As you well know there’s nothing ! One of the main reasons I moved was not only the constant broken service or bits not working plus they say unlimited storage unfortunately it’s 500 meg for any form of picture storage I,E a gallery ! I’ve already got twice that and not used 25 % !
