    nvram help

I'm wondering what's up with the Motherboard tattooing as well. If you've already found and run the HP Tattoo utility, there's a good chance you've messed something up when you went to flash the board. You'll want to undo what you've done, reboot the machine, and then clear the CMOS if those...

I feel x10hosting is better than other free hosting providers.

I've been using x10Hosting since I moved off of my home-based server which I ran in 2007-2008. I've been here for a while :)

    Google, why is it down?

I haven't noticed Google going down. Perhaps it was just a problem with your regional POP which the website testing website you used could also feed out of? I know Google's been doing a tons of work to their network to boost capacity, so unless it was only google.com that was not responding but...

    Mac/Apple fanboys

Only Apple Products here are an iPad 2, an iPhone 4S (CDMA) and two iPod Touch 2nd Generation devices. No Mac computers here or other Apple equipment. Our PCs here either run Windows or Linux depending on what they're used for. My network is driven by a system that essentially contains netbook...

Why does this happen to me?!?!?

Shut down the box and check the connections. Bet you something isn't plugged in all the way and the system didn't see the hardware properly when it booted. I see it all the time. At my home I have hardware available for people who are guests. That way they're not messing with my hardware that...

    Router Brands

If I had a choice with a consumer router? Most likely I'd choose a Meru, ASUS or D-Link and pop third party firmware on them. Nothing wrong with the other brands out there though. The units do their jobs. I run my network off of a computer. It's a system with a Dual Core Intel Atom CPU, 2GB of...

    Windows 7 freezes and restarts!

Try booting a Linux LiveCD for a little while to take Windows completely out of the picture. Let us determine if it's hardware or software at play. ---IF HARDWARE--- Run a Memtest and Check your Voltages. Also consider error checking the graphics card using something like OCCT if you have a...

Forum is very slow at times

Not seeing a performance issue on my end with the forums. Seems rather quick to me. Sometimes the forums do hang, and who knows why that is. Database maintenance by the software or the web server getting slammed all at once? Who knows..

    Can't see myself in Workgroup.

Shut down each device in the network, then reboot the router. From that point, power up each device one at a time, allow them to broadcast their presence to the network, and then bring up another machine. Be sure to double check the Firewalls just to be sure, and try connecting to shares on the...

Upgraded to prime but not upgraded

I know there have been a significant amount of tickets coming in and the staff have been pretty busy with some free hosting upgrades, so it could be possible that is why Prime has not exactly kicked in yet. Give it some time. The staff do monitor these forums so they should come across this post.

    It will be more supported..

In the past the manual backup option was enabled. I'm pretty sure it was removed due to the amount of resources the Backup option often consumed. Best way to take a backup is to do it manually through the File Manager, or by downloading your files through FTP if your site consists of fairly...

    Popular Websites & Security?

Typically the first. They've usually got a few people watching the servers and site content to ensure nothing is getting hacked. Unfortunately it tends to be the latter for some companies as they do not wish to invest in Security folks worth their skill level. They can get expensive for people...

Hosting a Hackathon.. is it okay??

These days it's kind of tough on saying where you need to set up shop to run a Hackathon. Doing it at home is risky unless you know how to segment and separate networks, and hope you also don't get a DDoS attack. Doing it on x10Hosting would get a lot of people very upset if the server winds up...

    USB powered HUB

These days I suggest sticking hard disks on an eSATA, USB 3.0 or a Thunderbolt hub, or perhaps FireWire 800. Lots of USB 2.0 disks are bottlenecked by the speed of the bus, and further limited by hubs with other devices communicating on them. Yeah, I'm one of those guys.
