When i was in school, there was NO way around any of the bans, i know 3 students who were extremely smart, actually hacked into the schools main server, disabled everything, and within minutes, a backup server hosted in a government office loaded backups of all the data, and that server took over, while the school server rebooted itself... it's crazy... they then tried to hack that government server... and then were facing a lawsuit, my old school filtered everything locally, and when the local system wasn't working, the government's system kicked in and took over, it was literally impossible to get around, no proxies worked, no IP's worked, no VPN's worked, nothing at all...pulling the plug when it was loading the settings didn't work either, it would lockup and reboot after the error message was shown...Talk about restricted :p

None of this actually works for me... Most proxy sites and things don't work for me.

I have tried this before at my other school and it worked, but now the school i am at currently has wireless. All the computers run on wireless and their internet source (router) is really hard to get into. Sucks for me i guess =(

Woah, that's nice! However, some proxies don't support YouTube and therefore they wont play the videos.

LMAO, that would suck if you'd done all of that work to get into the school server and turn off everything, only to have everything locked down again by the feds!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

ok so how do you get past a blocked website that you have to sign into, for example facebook. you can use a proxy to get to the main page but then you can't not login. I also tried to use a batch file i created that invovled nslookup, etc. but for facebook the IP does not work.

my school uses the same except if you have a web service that allows you to create a proxy then you can always run it through there because some private websites aren't blocked.

I just use remote-desktop. Seems a bit bass-ackwards, but for the most part it seems most networks don't block the Remote Desktop Connection system that came with XP.

From there it's just a matter of having the computer I'm controlling (in this case, my home pc) nav to the sites I want - works as though I was at the keyboard, although it tends to be a bit laggy when updating the screen. Doesn't work for music stuff but it works flawlessly for logging in and stuff :)

Some proxy's WILL let you log in on sites though. For security reasons I do NOT recommend it, since your password details and possibly other highly-sensative information are now passing through a middle-man. I trust most proxies to not do anything with said data, but at the same time there's bound to be a handful "borrowing" copies of all the data going through.

The link you first provided was regarding BYU's blocking Youtube. You do realize what BYU is, right? A mormon Christian university. They have every right to block various material from its students. Heck, most of the small towns surrounding BYU don't sell alcohol or cigarettes.
So, to be perfectly honest, if your school is blocking access to certain material, I would re-read the material you got when you started school and figure out why they block what they block.

blah nothing is impossible to get around.

My tech installed a program called deep freeze. That is living hell.

    along with content protect.

Lets just say hp+content protect+deepfreeze+ windows xp= major frickin crashing.

and then all your files are gone.

so you know how you get around that.

live disk the thing with linux. format the main drive. install vista (pos but was like gold back then) and there you go the tech sucks all over again.

yeah i had loads of fun hacking these computers which is why the tech hates me and we don't have computers anymore.

Writing your question twice in one thread doesn't mean it will get answered any faster. More than likely. I have a router, wireless connection and I used remote desktop on my main computer.

The best way is always to find out someone's username/password, preferably a technician, if not, an IT teacher, if not, any teacher.
Many teachers have little use for computers and do not think of sensible passwords. I was a technician for a short time, and obtained a list of all the teachers user/passwords, and I was astounded by the terrible passwords they used! There was the PE teacher who used to play for a certain football club - his pw was the club's name! A couple were 'changeme', some were dates of birth of them or their children, several were their pet's names (this is really easy to find out!), if not, try their children's names (if they have more than one, chances are it will be a conglomeration of them (eg billjen)).
Seriously, if you have a large staff, get to know them, then you can guess their passwords. You can always tell which ones have simple passwords - those that don't use/care about computers much, and trusting/friendly types. Avoid the suspicious ones, they have good passwords.
