I even chmod to 777 and it still did not work

check your case... *nix is case sensitive these are *nix servers...

also you probably want to have permission set to 755

did not work and anyway, the above mesage only comes when i manually type in "index.php". http://x10hosting.com/?r=absolut_htdocs comes when I don't type in the index.

i did see a post not too long ago(last couple hours) that absolut was being upgraded ... including php version...

To be precise, it's cPanel and Apache they're upgrading. They will have to take some services offline during this upgrade (which is why PHP scripts are "broken" at the moment).

Here's the post you asked for. As for when it'll be done, it would probably take a couple of hours (they will post again when it's finished) since there are tons of accounts on Absolut (like, thousands).
