.htaccess problem

Hi all, I have a small question regarding the .htaccess file in my home directory. Evey time I'm going to create it or modify it, it just disappears. Why is that?

Are you using ftp program to edit it or?

.htaccess is a Hidden file

If you're using cPanel File Manager
- Have your checked "Show Hidden Files" when you opened File Manager?

If you're using FTP
- Have you checked your Client's Settings for showing hidden files?
