Hello,

I'd like to access my wordpress admin console via https only (IE sending passwords via clear text ). Although I was able to generate a self signed certificate, it looks like my site is not actually listening on port 443.

Is it possible to connect via https to free sites at all? I've seen reference to a way to do it via this method, but I'm not able to make it work for me. Thanks!

The current setup of x10hosting's free-hosting servers will NOT work with SSL or TSL or SNI (regardless of IP shared or dedicated or what cPanel shows)

In the meantime, you can make use of CloudFlare to act as a proxy front-end to your site, and enable "Flexible" SSL through them - so your users would connect to the CloudFlare servers via SSL, and in the backend CloudFlare would pass on that request to x10hosting using normal HTTP with a encrypted & compressed connection

x10hosting's free-hosting users can use [ cPanel-x3 theme ] ( not x10hosting Basic) to setup CloudFlare for their account

Here is a link to x10hosting's "Official" way to setup CloudFlare on a free-hosting account --> [ https://x10hosting.com/support/guides/enable-cloudflare ]

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, that doesn't solve the problem of sending passwords plaintext though...There would be encryption from enduser to Cloudflare, but traffic from Cloudflare to the x10hosting would remain unencrypted. Looks like if this is a requirement, a paid account is the proper solution.

not true...

from my post above --> "in the backend CloudFlare would pass on that request to x10hosting using normal HTTP with a encrypted & compressed connection"

Is there any documentation describing the integration between those two systems?

[ Railgun ] - is the encrypted & compressed connection between each Cloudflare data center around the world and x10Hosting
NOTE: the words "encrypted & compressed" - it is the HTTP connection to x10hosting that [ Railgun ] accelerates and secures
here is a link to what CloudFlare says about it --> [ https://www.cloudflare.com/railgun ]
