It will all depend on the script you are using. I will assume it is php, if it is so, you can specify the time zone in the date function. Here is the manual:

http://us.php.net/date

Notice the part under TIME ZONE.

Edit: This is another way of doing it. Refer to http://au2.php.net/time

You need to either post the code so that we can look through it, or look for the time() function within your code.

If you are using PHP for your script:
If you find where your code gets the time from the server with the time() function then you can just add the difference onto it (in seconds). Eg. 5 hours difference would be 5 hours *60 minutes * 60 seconds = 18000 seconds. So it would be time()+18000.

If you aren't using php then please say which language you are using.

I built this Guestbook with Frontpage, so it's not a php script!!

I don't know which language Frontpage uses; by the way I post the code of my index page (where the guestbook is).

You have to set the time zone in the webbot code in the page you posted.

<!--webbot bot="SaveResults" U-File="commentiveri.htm" S-Format="HTML/BR" S-Label-Fields="TRUE" startspan B-Reverse-Chronology="TRUE" U-File="_private/form_results.htm" S-Format="HTML/BR" S-Label-Fields="TRUE" B-Reverse-Chronology="TRUE" S-Date-Format="%d/%m/%Y" S-Time-Format="%H.%M.%S" S-Builtin-Fields="Date Time" S-Form-Fields="Nome Commento " U-Confirmation-Url="cfd.htm" U-Validation-Error-Url="cfe.htm" --><!--webbot bot="SaveResults" endspan -->

To save me trying to explain here these links to some very comprehensive info about this subject may help you understand what you have to do.

2 links from the above page down at the bottom:

Edit:

If you can't fathom out how to do the webbot thing above then you may like to try adding the directive below to the .htaccess file in your web root folder - public_html - by editing the file via either your cPanel File Manager (legacy) or by ftp.

Be careful with ftp as FP does not like you to mess with things too much, but adding lines to the .htaccess file won't cause FP a migraine - make a backup copy of the .htaccess file before editing, just in case.

Add this somewhere below the entries made by FP or at the very top of the file followed by the entries already in the file (I believe you are from Rome):

SetEnv TZ Europe/Rome

I know this link is a php site but your Apache server uses these designated time zones so you can look up your specific TZ here:
http://www.php.net/manual/en/timezones.php

Good luck with the .htaccess hack as it may be your easiest method if it works for you.

What it is doing is changing the server time zone on a folder by folder basis, as is the purpose of the .htaccess file to change server behavior as required but there are only certain things you can add to a .htaccess file - check out Google for some interesting reading about htaccess and this link can help:
http://perishablepress.com/press/2006/01/10/stupid-htaccess-tricks
But remember what I said and that the server administrator has the final say about what is allowed in a .htaccess file.

Regards,
Rocky

Thank you for your help Rocky, but nothing seems to change. I can't even find the html_public folder (where is it?)..

Adding the H:%M:%S %Z command to my web bot code wasn't effective at all. I also tried to publish a date stamp on my page, but there's no way of change the time set zone.. I need to find the way of edit that damned "Z", that stands for the Time zone.

Thank you very very much... have you got other solutions for this problem?

That should be public_html not html_public - this folder is where your publicly available web site files are stored on your x10 hosting service - your GuestBook files and/or folders can be found in here and where you should see a .htaccess file.

Maybe this is only available from an ftp program or the File Manager (Legacy) in the cPanel.

I don't thing you will see it in FrontPage.

I feel confident that if you edit the .htaccess file by adding the line in my first post above, that this may have the desired effect on the correct time being displayed in your GuestBook.

However, here is the relevant part of the link I gave above which may help with configuring that damn webbot line. ;)

TZD = time zone designator (Z or +hh:mm or -hh:mm)

This profile defines two ways of handling time zone offsets:

1. Times are expressed in UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), with a special UTC designator ("Z").

2. Times are expressed in local time, together with a time zone offset in hours and minutes. A time zone offset of "+hh:mm" indicates that the date/time uses a local time zone which is "hh" hours and "mm" minutes ahead of UTC. A time zone offset of "-hh:mm" indicates that the date/time uses a local time zone which is "hh" hours and "mm" minutes behind UTC.

A standard referencing this profile should permit one or both of these ways of handling time zone offsets.

So in your case you may wish to add and experiment with + or - hh:mm for your time zone instead of simply adding the %Z which will only return the UTC/GMT Time Zone.

%H:%M:%S %Z - (in the code you pasted you had a missing % sign in front of the H)
becomes
%H:%M:%S+02:00

or whatever you need as a Time Zone offset from the time that is not correct in your GuestBook.

Yes, there is another way but it would require you rename the guestbook.htm file to guestbook.php, or what ever your guestbook file is called now, after adding a 3 lines of php right at the very top of the html code (the very first line) which will not affect the rest of the parsing of the html code or the webbots.

I will go into this method later with you if nothing else works, but even this last option may not work either or if it is even possible to change the time zone to reflect your local time on a free x10 hosting account at all - only the server Administrator will be able to answer that question.

Ok Rockee how can I give u credits?

Did you manage to solve your problem with any of the possibilities in my posts?

If so, you might be kind enough to let us know back with a post telling which worked for you that it may help others who search the forum for a suitable solution to a similar problem.

That is all you need do for me and no credits are necessary, but thanks for your very kind offer - it is a pleasure to be able to help other along the way. :)

Best wishes,

Rockee you are a f****** genius. You are the s***.

I solved this problem by editing .htaccess file in public_html folder.

Thank you very very very very much. I've been tried to solve this problem for months. You made a person of the other part of the world happy. Thank you man!
