I have re-actived the account after been suspended, but still pending for up to 24 hours? is that normal?

If I can add my two cents here.
I don't think logging into the forum once a month is unreasonable at all.

I'm trying to get in twice a month, just to make sure I don't get suspended.

I'm sure some of you are clever enough to write a script that sends you an email, reminding you to login to x10hosting.com as userxyz (if looking after multiple personalities)

Please keep up this service, I think its great, and yes I do have a real busy life as well.

Well I learnt the hard way lol

Didn't know about the rule (yes there are terms you agree to but really...) so my current site is down. I guess it's a reasonable request for us to log into the forum once a month but I'm sure there are better ways to find out if we're still using the site. But ah well.

Just wish removing the suspension was a bit quicker. I know it's a Sunday so I guess that's the reason, but I'd kind of like my site to come back online...

Keep in mind, the activity requirement used to be 2 weeks, not 4. Already, Corey has compromised with the free hosting users of X10 to lower the activity requirement.

It is so insanely simple to stay active. When you log in, check the "remember me" box. Make some page on the forums your home page (the news and announcements page would be VERY beneficial for you to see from time to time). Every time you open your browser, you will log into the forums long enough for you to be active. If you can't be bothered to do that, then go to your control panel (or cron) and make it a scheduled task to launch your browser once every couple of weeks.

Compared to the more serious violations of TOS that cause users to permanently lose their accounts, inactivity is an easily solvable suspension that doesn't cause that. If you forget, then it'll be your reminder. If you don't want it at all, then invest in the better hosting packages such as Illuminated or Premium so you won't be bothered with it. Calling it lame and complaining about it isn't going change the fact that it is a term that you agreed to keep and be aware of.

How does your willful ignorance of the terms of service make his point invalid? When you agree to a TOS you give the servicer of those terms the power to enforce them. How is that not clear? The x10hosting free hosting TOS isn't full of hard legalese words. It's actually very simple and short compared to those terms of "all of the software and other websites" you refer to. Just go take a look at it. It's all very clear and in plain language for any native English speaker to understand.

If you don't want to follow the TOS and complain about it, then that really is your problem and not the x10hosting when it is a completely reasonable and simple term to follow.

You obviously have important priorities to keep in your life, and I actually admire that. But when you agreed to the TOS, all we can assume is that you read (are aware of) and will follow them in order to keep your account online and unsuspended for any reason. That assumption also reasonably extends to that you are able to make arrangements to keep your account active (aside from not ever knowing your circumstances beforehand). These terms of service apply to EVERYONE. We will work with you as reasonable adults to help you get unsuspended for inactivity if it happens again, but whining at us that the rules you agreed to are lame are only going to make us shake our heads.

What do you think we should do about it? Corey, the owner of x10hosting, has explained why it's done like this. We've already seen many others complain about the same thing. Are you going to make your suggestions, or are you going to continue to remain unhappy about this and complain about it? I really hope that this thread can be more helpful and productive than it started out being and not end on a sour note. I'm curious about what ideas you have about it.

I guess like Dr. Phill say's "Some People Just don't get it". If you have a feed back system it is for feedback. Complaining to me about me complaining to you is such a waist of time. I set you up with a method to improve your business model. By your own admission "We've already seen many others complain about the same thing". I could solve your problem but I am not on your payroll that is for you to decide. I will hint that by account activity you could determine that an account is slow or inactive. The account term could be set to a six month period that means the user would only be forced to come to the forum and be subjected to the agony of talking to all you very nice users and administrators. if they wish to come more and chat then it is by there own folly. There are many way's to determine and police accounts. And about your TOS get off it already it is not that big of a deal. I haven't read it I won't read it I don't care. I don't read Agreements, TOS or any other legal hoowhaaw as a matter of principal. I have much better things to do than read Microsoft's Patents And License agreements or any other such garbeldygook from any website software product or jock itch cream. I use the product if it dosen't work I throw it in the trash and use LINUX or Another webhosting company or poor gas on the wewe and light it on fire. You see you place a greater importance on your hosting that do any of your users. Your TOS is important to you but I can place a firm bet that 80% of your readers never read it and never will. 100% of your service are like me the end user. If it is free then why because your just the nicest people on earth! God I would love to believe that but I am sure it is because rich people give things away like facebook or skype or can we add x10hosting to that list. They have TOS too and 90% of the users of those sites don't read TOS Either If it don't work then then I or them move on, simple as that. I have already hosted my resume on 3 different sites that wouldn't work and may be getting ready to move on again till I find something that runs 24/7 a simple website small I don't have any large requirements other than my resume must be online all the time. If it goes down and someone wants to see it what does that say about me. For me it is not practical to run it on a paid service. but then why pay when there are so many free hosting sites out there. I am not going to be directly recieving income from it so it just needs to be online that is my only requirement thus "I love the Hosting but Hate the Suspensions". I am not alone. and I am not complaining. I am giving you feedback. I am trying to help you, despite your opposition to fact. you know I am right. I know I am right. I am always right it is my thing.

As for the ToS I think it is a big deal, you know I have actually seen companies sue for violation of their ToS and the courts ruled in their favor stating by hitting accept you are signing a contract to adhere to what is stated in the ToS no exceptions. I am not saying you will, just saying the ToS doesnt matter is kind of going a little far isnt it.

actually as I had told you if it broken then I just move on and do something else. Well from my analysis your administration is too resilient to positive feedback. There communications skills are abrupt coarse and positively rude. The hosing is only fair in quality but the suspensions are intolerable and inexcusable. I have changed my domain nameservers to *removed* they have hosted my other site for a long period of time and have never given me any problem. I find that I spend too much time trying to talk sense into a stubborn mule and so as I warned you would happen it has happened. No your not the best host on the net in fact far from it. you have an OK service but your customer support and public relations is in the toilette.

Let me start by clarifying that I was talking about me! I don't care. For you the 10% that may read it maybe it is important to you. I don't deal with child porn or controversial political issues or have a blog that will copy info from other sources. I have a simple resume. I created it 100% and all the technology is 100% mine so no I don't give a rat's ass about a TOS. Sorry for being comically abrupt. but the website need's to work 100% and yes I agree if your not paying attention 100% to your website because you believe it should be online till you say so then the 6 month would not work either. Best bet is just let people sign up and leave them the hell alone. if there is no response on the domain name then delete there account due to non activity like other websites do. soft suspend for 6 months then total deletion after a year.

At X10Hosting, customer feedback is taken very seriously from free hosting users, to premium users, to VPS users, and any other services X10 has or will ever provide. Many customer's ideas have been implemented over time. Many customer's ideas have not been implemented. But if you look at every decision to implement or not to implement a customer's suggestions there is a careful balance of what is good for the service and what is good for the customers. There are things that can't be explained why. There are reasons you nor I would ever think about. That's why we have the administration; to worry about problems we users do not understand.

Your suggestion has been brought up times before and if you dig up the old threads, every time it was stated that changing this policy is not going to happen. There's no malice here against you by the administration (other users will think what they will). With that being said, I'm sorry that X10Hosting is not a good fit for you right now and good luck to you in your future endeavors.

I'm not even sure how to properly respond to such a ridiculous comment such as this. Your arrogance is beyond over the top. You have absolutely no idea how to run a business such as this which is clearly evident in your suggestions. Throwing a fit because we won't implement your feedback screams of some entitlement complex, is this how you act normally when you don't get your way? We have been here for 7 years, have research, feedback, and numbers to backup exactly how we run things. Just because you do not comprehend how we run our business does not mean it is done incorrectly. I hope you are more appreciative in life when people offer you something for free and that you don't react the same way as you have here.

There isn't much else to say than we absolutely do not want users like you on our servers and I for one am happy you have chosen to go somewhere else.

Two things that I want to correct:

"The only thing I don't see is the ability to email from php being lifted so by not seeing that I assuming that is only available to full membership members or maybe not. "
- Sending mail from PHP is not disabled in any way.

"It would be nice to send a letter every month that contained links to the bbs and a keep account active link maybe. "
- We send warning emails 24 hours prior to a potential inactivity suspension containing all information related to the policy.
