Is there a way to excerpt/abstract the descriptive text? The scrollbars on the main page are a little off-putting, and the first couple-three lines of text seem to be enough of lede to get me to look at the gallery page (where I can read more without scrolling). And I might consider rounding the borders on the main page slightly (a couple of pixels radius); the boxes-in-boxes look is a little too reminiscent of 2001-2002 (when every design-impaired developer on the planet, myself included, simultaneously discovered CSS).

Oh, and don't worry too much about the quantity of the pictures; even though a gallery might not be quite as deliberately restrictive as, say, a portfolio, you still don't want anything meh on the site just for the sake of volume. Fewer high-quality images beats a lot of take-it-or-leave-it any day of the week. Except maybe Thursday -- Thursdays are funny that way. Unless you're selling porn to the desperate, ruthless editing and culling is the way to go. Keep the quality knob set on WOW, and people will keep coming back.

Hi esslelar i try to keep the image size down as i dont want to keep pushing my cpu and memory to the point of being banned ! So mid quality ! The descriptive text is simply to give a background on the subject matter !

No, I don't mean the "quality factor" (the amount of JPEG compression), I mean the quality of the pictures themselves. (There's little use in putting anything with a Photoshop quality factor of 8 or 9 on the web unless you can see the artifacts -- that just makes the file size bigger for no good reason. And nobody needs really huge images; if they want 'em big enough to print posters, they can always contact you.)

Don't post a lot of pictures just to post a lot of pictures; post only the best of them. I was a professional photographer for years, and made a pretty darned good living at it for a while. I probably shot something in the neighbourhood of a half-million pictures over ten years that I was paid for (figuring 5-6 rolls of 35mm or 10-20 rolls of 120 per shooting day, 250 days a year for ten years); I don't think I made 20K images in all of that time that were worth showing off.

Ive made one change that you mentioned essellar and that is the scrolling aspect at the side of the photos on the home page ! I do agree what you say about quality not quantity ! At this moment in time the galleries im playing with are not the finished article as ive only been using piwigo for a few days ! But thank you so very much for your constructive input
