Quetion about nameservers...

Can someone tell me what a name server is? In an email I got it has:

NameServer1: ns1.x10hosting.com

Please give me a short answer.:happy:

Nameservers are computers that translate a numeric address assigned to every computer connected to the internet (IP Address) into the domain names we are all familiar with.

Basically it's used when you buy a domain. On your domain, you put the nameserver of your hosting "company" so your domain will "point" to your hosting.

What is done with that domain once it is registered revolves around the nameservers that are assigned to it. ... The function of both web browser resolution and email features of your domain are controlled by the nameservers.
