Hi!

I was absent for a "wee while" and I assume that some of my issues are due to that.

When I initially returned with a new domain, I couldn't get a SSL certificate to be trusted by any browsers, so I went to cloudflare, but I'm not certain how to set things properly, so I returned to the default setup.

For a while, I got to see your default index.html which I modified, but as mentioned, none of the browsers trusted the 10x certificate.

I then followed the cloudflare instructions, but instead, ended up with a 'Apache is functioning normally' message, so I reverted to your onsite certificate but am still seeing 'Apache is functioning normally'.

I read that this is symptomatic of those inactive accounts, but then, for a while, I did get my page up, so I'm now very confused.

I'm starting this venture and I just need people to be able to type my URL and not be given a "DO NOT TRUST THIS SITE" message when they visit me!

Help?!

OK... Now I'm even more confused... So...

When loading my site now, it shows a good certificate, the cloudfare one, only, the domain server isn't pointing to them anymore since I've reverted to your DNS...

I am confused.

I use GBNames for my .uk domain

If I can 100% trust your SSL, I can skip cloudflare, but let's say I use cloudflare

I assume that on GBNames, I would setup the DNS from cloudflare

cloudflare had your dns showing so I assume it would do the forwarding automatically

Therefore, do I turn off SSL on your end?

Eeeeesssshhhhhh......

I cannot really answer your question but maybe another member can,
or if you can wait for support to reply back then you can do that.

I just thought id mention since this is a forum for free x10 accounts,
mostly members would try to reply to posts if they can.
official support/admins check in from time to time and try to help.
but are not always available to reply right away.
it can take up to a few days to have a reply, so patience is needed.

as for free ssl that does work here (i use it on my account)
i even get the little lock and it says verified by Let's Encrypt in firefox.
but i do not use cloudflare so i cant say there.
But i can verify a paid web host is not required for the ssl.

when you said you were absent for a "wee bit" i started to think maybe
you were suspended for not signing in every 30 days as required.
but if you accessed your website and DirectAdmin then you were not.

if you get to many failed logins you might also get blocked.
then you have to get an admin or someone that can unblock you.

Never mind, I have gone to a paid web host with solid SSL. Thank you!

Thanks for the update.

For anyone viewing this topic, you just simply choose the "let's encrypt" certificate option in DirectAdmin and the server will generate a valid certificate for you. You can also purchase an SSL certificate from whatever your preferred company is, and use that. You can also generate self-signed certificates if you want to use them for testing purposes only.
