Trouble closing threads

I want to comply with the wishes of all by closing threads that have been resolved, but I can't seem to do it. Am I doing something wrong?

When I click on the "Thread Tools" menu item, I just see an option for deleting the thread. I can do this, but it seems like it would be better to close, rather than delete, the thread.

This problem is being looked into by the admin. When it has been resolved I will post back.
