We have a two week inactivity timer going into affect immediately. Please make sure you login to your cPanel ATLEAST once every two weeks.

This is going to help clean up the servers and make sure we're only hosting active people. If you plan to go away please leave your login info with someone you trust, there is no way at this time for us to excuse certain users from this.

I have a feeling that is isn't gonna work. I would say every 30 days, as someone may forget to log onto their cPanel. What if there's some server catastrophe for two weeks? Why can't it at least be complete site inactivity for 2 weeks.

This is the best way to get rid of high server load and accounts that ppl have not taken care of. All it takes is a couple minutes of your time to log in and check things out. As for server catastrophes I think we have had one here since I`ve been here and its wasnt for 2 weeks.

This is probably one of the most bogus things I have ever had the misfortune of hearing.

So you're having server problems. You keep punishing your clients. First we could no longer automatically sign up for any account except for static. I fail to see the reasoning behind this, but alright. Now we're going to have everything deleted if we don't get into the cp for 2 weeks? I have cervical cancer and sometimes spend weeks in the hospital at a time. Even though i'm not around, my site can still be updated via the frontend by any staff that I have. And now I'm going to have to either very very very reluctantly give somebody permission to my entire control panel when I won't give anyone access to my administration backend because other wise my entire account will get deleted.

Well, if nothing else, the next time I go for treatment, I'll be sure to backup all my databases and info so when I come back I'll have them for my move to another host. This is completely out of my control and yet there's nothing I can do about it because of yow you decide to handle your server troubles. (and just between you and me, I highly doubt that's going to keep the server from messing up, so in my opinion this is just a complete and utter waste of your time and a very good means to make all your non-paid clients bolt)

No offense, I love this hosting, but i do think I'll have to start searching for another. I can't take the chance that an emergency hits and I come back to nothing after all of the hard work and effort that I've put into it.

*rolls eyes*

well, i wish you all the best and hope that I'm completely wrong on where this hosting is going

Lindsey,

We are not doing this to be cruel or harsh. The reason we are doing this is to get rid of the many inactive accounts. It is almost impossible for us to go through each and every account looking for abusers. We do our best to provide the best service for our members. Some people just do not care to realize that we work hard to provide this service. They feel that they should do what they want, even if it jeopordises everyones hosting.

We also feel that two weeks is a lot of time. Many users log in to cp more than once a day. Im sure that many users can vouch for that.

I doubt you can trust me, but I am willing to log into your account for you twice a week.

I hope you get well soon.

Lindsey, we get 500 sign ups a day, thats 15000 sign ups a month. It is VERY VERY hard to go through each account when 75% of them are inactive. I understand your your situation and I will make sure your account does not get terminated. (post it nots come in handy :p)

-Tyler

Edit: You got two people now willing to log in every 2 weeks for you.

if any of you would do that, i would really appreciate it, i'm not saying i will be gone, but i just never know.... and it would be my luck to come back and it's all gone (i'm a total jinx and if i didn't have bad luck i wouldn't have any)

thanks all for offering and i will certainly take you up on it

besides that, i wouldn't trust my own parents with access to my administration backend, let alone my control panel :D

Just PM me with your username and password once you think you won't be able to be here in a while, and I'll keep your site up. Don't worry about it.

Yeah well some may not alway be somewhere where they have internet access! Like for christmas, I go away on holiday to my parents batch where i dont have an internet connect, yet to say a phone line. I never give out my passwords, especially for stuff the refers to my site. Maybe you should drop it or extend the inactivity time for public/seasonal holidays such as Christmas, Easter, Spring Break (America) etc.

Normally its alright with most holidays, as they are 2 weeks long for me most for the time, and i normally leave on the 2nd or 3rd day and come back on the 2nd to last or the last day. Its only the Christmas period that annoys me. I am normally away for Christmas for about 3 -5 weeks.

The admin and mods need to free up space. Just think of all the wasted "free" space. Maybe these people who sign up and get a coporate account and use less than 20 MB of space. Others cannot sign up because not enough space? Server lags beacuse too many accounts?

Not sure how a server works but I know my hard disk slows down a bit when it gets too full. So one can understand the need to do "spring cleaning" from time to time but logging in every 2 weeks?

Is there a way to list all the accounts and view the usage?
Maybe allow the users to reduce their hosting space voluntarily?

Weel i surtenley understand this. the more users the more server load. and there are alway's ppl who does not care for it our just do nothing with it or use it as a test acount and futher nothing. so i can see the use for those 2 weeks. it isnt that hard to log in you cpanel for 30 sec once a week i log in every day to check the stats ond so on. i am also away in cristmas for about 4 weeks but i have a seccond admin who i trust and will not abused it and gave him acces to it just in case if something comes to happen with me. its alway's wise to have someone that have acces to your site's controls if something might happen to you. a accident is in a litle corner.
