I just discovered that 2 of my websites hosted free were disabled. I think I haven't been able to update both sites for more than 5 months. Is there any rule on this?

short answer is - yes

IF for 30 or more days you did not log-in to the Account Portal at --> [ https://www.x10hosting.com/sso/login ] - your account will be suspended for inactivity - you can (or could have) un-suspend it from within the Account Portal - but if you do NOT un-suspend it within 21 days the maintenance system (computer) will terminate it and delete ALL of its files and databases - anytime after the 21 day delay (total 51 days after date of last log-in) - NO backups are made

FTP'ing -:- and cPanel direct logins -:- and logging into the forums -:- and making forums post-:- and logging into your own website - do not count
all you need to do - and the only way for it to count towards the requirement of x10hosting's Terms of Service (TOS) - is log-in to your account - with no than 30 days after your last log-in at --> [ https://www.x10hosting.com/sso/login ]

the only URL that counts towards the requirement of x10hosting's Terms of Service (TOS)
