Which would you recommend

I am fairly new to using 3rd party applications on my sites. but I have a quick question. Which would you recommend PHPBB3 or vBulletin? thanks

vBulletin is considered superior.
But, as Boss pointed out, it does cost.
If you find a "cheap" copy or a friend gives you a "free" version, it is probably "nulled". Which means your account at x10 will be closed.
