Also running windows 7 here. I think it's a great OS and certainly better then XP, it looks better and it feels much smoother. Originally I wanted to go from a 32bit to a 64bit OS so I decided I might as well take windows 7 instead of sticking with an old OS.

Lol, agreeing to 2 year old post.

And I can't believe a thread this old is still alive. I believe most Windows based users would have moved on to Windows 7 by now. Comparing to older Windows versions, 7 had been the smoothest in performance even with all those eye candies.

I did not really forget win2k.
Win2k was part of the NT line (corporate line) of windows.

First there was DOS then you had 1.0 2.0 and 3.0
Then you had windows 3.1 for home users and windows NT 3.1 for corporations.

Windows 95 for home users and Windows NT 3.51 for corporations.
Windows 98 for home users and Windows NT 4.0 for corporations.
Windows ME for home users and Windows 2000 for corporations.

While the home versions of windows were based on Ms-Dos, the NT line was using a different infrastructure which proved to be much more stable.

Microsoft decided to release a revamped version of Windows 2000 incorporating the new features for home users which they introduced in windows ME.
This was released as Windows XP in both a home and professional version.

The drivers for dell did not install completely.Dell studio had 2 audio jacks and Windows 7 could not recognize one of them.I had to install dell driver from CD provided. So the auto driver installation is not universally faultfree..

My dad changed my laptop from XP to Windows 7. Home Basic, though, which really sucks :/ I wanted the glass transparency and snipping tool. :/
