okay back on topic,
i have another idea. (yes i know the limit is two, but im pretty sure the ideas in my previous post wont amount to much)

how about you give users who have hosting the option to put up MORE ads, and maybe receive more forum points?

it'd be hard to implement without account creators around though
I love the fax number.

I would like to see better support for tech stuff. Maybe staff members with a more detailed support background. Staff specialising in php, or flash etc etc. That's the only thing stopping me from giving my 100% backing to you guys. The uptime is good. The speed is good, but I think it serverely lacks in tech support. I waited a long time to get help in the VIP area, and I had a couple of guys try to help me out, but they were trying their best without any real knowledge on my problem. In the end no-one could fix the problem for me. A basic php problem, and a webhost could not/or did not have the resources to get it fixed. I don't know anything about php, but this problem I think should have easily been sorted by the hosting company.
If x10 fixed this, it would be up there with the best. But I think you really need to look at this. As if you are going to get bigger, you must get better tech support. Or at least have it organised alot better. Geoff will know what I'm talking about with this.
Don't see this as having a *****, as I'm not. You asked what could be done to improve. I think this is a must. If I wanted to ***** I would have made a particular post about this long ago ;)

What would make you want to tell your friends about x10?
Well, i already do. But an easy way to get either points or some other benefit for referals would be good.

Maybe you could make some sig link. So if someone clicks your link to x10 hosting and then signs up following that, you would get the referal, even if you didn't know the person. Maybe you could do it on IP address so that gives people clicking the links a bit of time to decide to sign up if they don't do it immediatly. Might be a little hard to regulate, what with some people having the same IP and all, so might be easier just to do it from a cookie. Thats actually a good idea.

A prospective x10 hosting member sees a link in someones sig (corporate hosting for the masses) and clicks the link. Downloads the cookie with the forum ID of person whos link it was. Look around for a bit, then logs off. Then they are looking for hosting a few months down the line. remembers x10 hosting and goes straight to the site. Then signs up and some script checks the cookie and awards points to the person whose link it was.

I don't know how it would work really. i'm rambling.

What makes you come here in general?
The Arcade. its great. Over 500 games. I think you could advertise that you have a great arcade here as well as a great hosting service more. I don't go to any other free internet game sites anymore.

What would you like to see done to make x10 better?
I'd go for some sort of help to people who don't know much about coding to get websites set up. Like a WYSIWYG site editor with templates. Or links to useful sites to get you started with proper coding. Like: 'You've got the web hosting. and now you've got the site. But now you want to customise your site with your own code but don't know how? Go here.'

You could even hold competitions in the forum for original site html coded templates that you could put up. and design them for compatibilty with all the plans so ads would show up automatically in them.
X10 hosting is great, but its a little hardcore for some people to get into. Something like this could open it up a lot but, i don't know, you might see it as too much work for maybe not very much return.

I think that it would be great if we had a GFX forum section where we could show off our sigs, have graphics contests, rate other's work, etc. I think it would be a great addition to this already excellent community.

Lot's of people are looking for PHP scripts., as some of you guys here x10hosting are really good at making php scripts it would be nice if you could make it downloadable on a page of your main site. Then people could come here for support of those scripts (Depending if you do make scripts) but this is sought of a personal preferance as I love sites which let you index there php scripts. ;)

How about:
How about an Advertising section for fellow x10hosting users?
How about a Chat-Room of some sought, an ICR? attracts a lot of people, or vBChat by Zero Tolerance.
How about more staff? like technical staff.
How about more competitions!
How about a message board hosting thing, where you host older versions of IPB and Phpbb.
How about selling reseller hosting.
How about a FREE DOMAINS!!@%@@1@!111 :p
How about an Online RPG game, which you can pick up free scripts from all over the place.

EDIT: That link above links to my name? xD Accident or u luv my name? :p

Ok well I would like to see a referal program to get extra things, like email accounts... not space but maybe bandwidth.

I love this host because it is all free and the adds are to a minimal standard. You guys have lotza services and I dont mind that there is a lottery because the hosting is worth a wait! I will tell everyone I know about you guys, I have written reviews and I am doing loads to advertise you guys because... wow its great! A forum is great too, because its fun and handy.

One thing I would like to see is a more organised smaller rules page, and maybe a link to it in cpanel if you can inject that. I dont have your hosting... YET but I just cant wait for it! (Ill eventually get picked... i hope) (Rules would include everything but it wood be quicker
and better organised with titles etc. And an email sent out to people with helpful links.

You guys act and I sure you are in real life, very friendly. You could use a few more staff on your live help, im sure there would be many volunteers, I myself if I knew more about your system would volunteer.

This is very hard, you guys are almost perfect... with the forums, (if it applies here) I would love to see styles and addons, everybody loves addons and it would attract many people to the forum hosting, I have told a few friends but, they have one with a few addons they like, if you guys got more addons your adsense would be better etc.

Personally, i would like the cpanel to be accessible from the homepage. This is because on our school computers we are not allowed to access it because it blocks ports. having both accessible ways, through the youraccount.x10hosting.com/cpanel and also the homepage would encourage and would also allow more people to access features in their site.

I'm new here and I haven't found this host easy to understand nor very friendly.

Things I generally like to see before I even consider paying or signing up for free hosting. If I really like the hosting, I generally will make donations when I get the money.

-Your main site needs to be updated more often, it's out of date, heck your instant hosting and your ad pages don't even work. From what I heard you don't offer those anymore, and your ads were moved to a topic? Huh?

-The main site, your 'Fresh News' place, why not link the 'news' to where you can read more?

-In my opinion your main site is lacking content. Wow you have a looker right? But the content is what keeps 80% of your guests. I can guess that a majority of your guests cannot find what they want, and they left, does that seem really nice?

-99.9% uptime? Stop bluffing, according to your members around here it ranges about 97% - 98.7%. How about an actual tracker that calculates and tells you if the server is online at the main site?

-Your main site praises the staff members basically, I'm guessing that is old. As I waited over two days now for a question about the server to be answered, all I get are replys is 'PM Corey'.

-Make it clear that if members are allowed to PM the staff with questions.

-Referral system, where is the information at that tells us how it works?

-Server information? My question, what is the information on your server? What is the transfer speed?

8 things for now. Personally this is one of the WORST support forums for hosting I have been on. You need to catch up to speed, this isn't 2000. Our lives are about 50 times faster than it was than.

I think reseller hosting plans would be great. That's when somebody buys a bunch of storage space and uses it to host website for their customers.

I don't think I could really tell too many people about a web host. Most people's sole interest on the Internet is to go on Myspace or AOL Messenger and distribute chain letters. They don't really last long when they try to branch off because most places on the Internet are hostile to these people and because of that, there is a stigma attached to most of the Internet. Too many idiots have become mentally associated with "The Internet." There's just too many people who can't spell. There's too many people who tape themselves looking like an idiot and then it becomes part of some stupid commercial or works its way onto some boring TV show. Most of the people using the Internet will not go much further than Yahoo! and a few official websites (MLB.com and NFL.com come to mind).

I've seen people on forums in school. Not the usual people you'd expect, though. So guess what these people were doing? Lurking and playing in the arcade while the site's bandwidth usage skyrocketed. At my school, there is a cat and mice game between the censors and students trying to play online games and apparently somebody found a forum.

Out of interest for making the Internet more acceptable, I personally refuse to use slang abbreviations other than legitimate acronyms. I also try to use proper English as much as possible, though I actually type things up as they come into my mind, so it often looks disorganized and there is the occasional error because I rewrote something or forgot to finish it after moving elsewhere in the post.

I have two.

First is to make the cpanel a bit more friendly to those who are a bit computer illiterate. It's ok now, I know the basics and basically knew what to do when I got my hosting account. However, for someone who has no idea what their doing they're going to be confused as **** as to whats going on. So I suggest either changing up the wording or adding a page the describes the basic use of each cpanel feature.

My second is to get some ad banners for your users to put in their sigs at other forums so they can link to here. I dunno if you already have them or not, so I figured it's worth it to throw it in.

Hope I've helped some.

I think the idea of buying things with x10 Cash is good.

I completely disagree with the above poster. I was able to find what I wanted extremely quickly and has a function hosting account in about 20 minutes.

The main reason I chose this host was the huge amount of space and bandwidth and space. The only thing I can think to improve is uptime, and support.

I know this is a little late but i reckon we for one should be able to buy a advertising space on the forums each a little button on the bottom of the page or where ever and this would cost like X amount of x10cash.

Or
Be able to transfer X10 cash back to points but with a export rate. Like 2% lose when you transfer them back eg. like changing currency in the real world.

After reviewing some other hosting sites, your site should include a built-in html text and graphic editor for easy web site changes if you are unable to access your FTP, etc at the time.
